It's back, but this time it's going to the Golden Bean Competition! We've reserved some of this incredible coffee from producer Wilton Benitez for you, but it's a very limited release so snag it while you can. This coffee blew our minds when it came in last year, and this year's lot completely lives up to the hype. It is meticulously cared for through a 15 step P-09 Experimental Yeast Anaerobic Fermentation process. We're finding notes of tropical fruit, mango nectar, and rose.

As our green coffee buyer at Open Seas, I (Bryce) cup coffees a lot. We typically work through hundreds of coffee each season to find just the right fits for our program. Every so often (maybe 3 times over my career) you come across something that is so uniquely incredible and different that it stops you in your tracks. The Pink Loco produced by Wilton Benitez and sourced from our friend Macarena at Tio Conejo, is the epitome of these coffees. Wilton has created something extraordinary with this coffee and his execution is like nothing I've ever tasted from a yeast ferment coffee. This is an extremely small lot, yielding us only 24kg of coffee to roast and are expecting it to sell quickly so don't hesitate on picking this one up.
We are in an exploratory time in coffee where there is an overabundance of "different" coffees that push the boundaries so far that we don't even find them enjoyable anymore. This coffee is the kind of different that somehow bring all of the potential that an experimental coffee could have and delivers it beautifully. This rare coffee encapsulates and embodies all the positive attributes that we hope to realize in an experimental coffee and brings it to life. This coffee is incredibly fragrant, complex, sweet, fruity, textured, silky, and balances all of these to perfection.
Please note: to ensure your coffee arrives as fresh as possible coffees are roasted to order. Coffee is roasted Tuesday, packaged Wednesday, and shipped on Thursday. Orders will be filled as quickly as possible depending on availability but please note that order arriving after Monday may be filled the following week.
