Q: What is the best way to store my coffee?
A: Your coffee is best stored in a dark, dry, cool environment sealed from excess oxygen.
Q: Should I freeze my coffee?
A: For a day to day use, it is best not to freeze your coffee. Instead store it in a cool dry place away from sunlight.
Q: When should I grind my coffee?
A: To preserve freshness and get the most flavor out of your coffee you should grind it as close to brewing as possible.
Q: Why is it so important to grind fresh?
A: As soon as you expose coffee to air it starts to stale, that is why our bags are sealed with the valve to release gasses. Once you grind, you are releasing many of the desirable fragrant components of the coffee into the air and greatly increasing the surface area of the coffee being exposed to the air, both of which decrease flavor of the cup.
Q: Is espresso made from a different kind of bean?
A: No, espresso is actually just a way of preparing coffee, using an espresso machine. Any coffee can be used for making espresso. That being said, because of the way an espresso machine engages the coffee (intense pressure, relatively quick extraction time, and extremely fine grind) it makes an extremely concentrated beverage that drastically accentuates and intensifies the coffees inherent properties. Because of the intensity of the resulting beverage, for a long time coffees used for espresso tended to be heavier roast levels that focused on more sugary and chocolaty coffee notes. More recently due to shifts in consumer preference and more precise equipment, all types and roast levels of coffees are used in preparing espresso and espresso based beverages. But to circle back, espresso is just a brewing method so ask your barista more info about the coffees they are using in your favorite drink!
Q: How does the subscription plan work?
A: Our goal is to make your subscription as easy as possible. When you sign up you pick what coffee you want to subscribe to receive every two weeks. You choose grind size and volume and we take care of the rest. While subscribing you will create a log in where you can access your customer portal. Once logged in you can edit/cancel your subscription, change your address, or update payment information. And don’t worry, we respect your privacy and will not share it with anyone else. Your payment information is completely handled by stripe and we cant even access it. This is a pay as you go subscription so you will receive a charge as each order is filled, no large lump sums or long term commitments. Just great coffee to your door, regularly.
