Auto Drip
(also known as your standard home coffee pot)
- Insert coffee filter into the coffee brewer basket.
- We recommend using 10g of coffee per cup of coffee brewed. (i.e. Use 80g of coffee for an 8 cup pot) Adjust the dosage to your personal preference, more grounds for a stronger cup, less for a more mild brew.
- Grind coffee to a medium-fine setting; or if you have pre-ground beans skip this step. More on grind settings below.
- Pour ground coffee evenly into the brewer basket. Give it shake so the grounds lay flat.
- Insert brewer basket into brewer, rinse coffee pot, and begin the brewing process.
- Swirl coffee pot when brewing is finished and enjoy!
Helpful Hints
Most coffee pots have baskets that have trouble holding more than 60-80g of coffee when brewing (6-8 cup pots). If you notice that grounds have overflowed in your coffee pot, try brewing a smaller batch!
Why does this happen? Coffee beans contains gas and as they age, when they're ground, and when they are brewed they "off-gas". When coffee grounds are introduced to water it creates a "bloom" and if you don't have a deep enough basket and filter the grounds can spill over the edge.
Grind Settings
Since coffee beans off-gas as they age, the correct grind setting for the age of your coffee can play a big role in the taste. Our favorite age to brew coffee is in it's 2nd week post-roast, but here is a general grind setting guide to get the most out of your specialty coffee beans at any age.
Week 1: Fine grind
Week 2: Medium-fine grind
Week 3: Medium grind
Week 4: Medium-coarse grind
Ordering Pre-Ground coffee? No worries, our "Drip" grind setting works best for this brew method.
